Autopsy 4.21 not running on MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1

Hi, all.

I’m installed Autopsy on MacOS using MacPorts and installation was sucessfully but, when I try to run the application, I receive the following message below:

Unrecognized option: --add-opens=java.base/java.lang=ALL-UNNAMED
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

I already followed the troubleshooting proccess on link https://slo-sleuth.github.io/tools/InstallingAutopsyOnMacOS.html#troubleshooting, but it still not working.

I installed the application in path /Users/myuser/autopsy/autopsy-4.21.0 and executed the file located on /Users/myuser/autopsy/autopsy-4.21.0/bin/autopsy

I was an Autopsy Windows user and I really confused about how to configure and run it properly in MacOs Environment and I’ll appreciate your help to solve this issue.

Hey @rtbomfim - Good day, have you resolved this issue on your side as yet?

I’m currently also having this issue as well

Hi @dgreg . I give up to install Autopsy on MacOS. As workaround solution, I installed VMWare Fusion and created a Windows VM and installed and ran Autopsy from there.

I think that will be very nice if the team develop some .pkg file to install and configure it into MacOS environment instead of we have to install several apps manually.

Okay cools, noted. Loll that makes the two of us, I went ahead to just installed it on a old Windows machine I had.
