Has anyone successfully set up Google Translate? Is there a step-by-step set of instructions? I gave it a whirl and failed big time.

Yes it worked well but Bing is easier then Google (for me). With both, you can use it on a temporary basis but eventually you will need to pay for the service of Bing or Google.
